On the occasion of Malaysian National Day 31st of August, Melia Hanoi Hotel and the Embassy of Malaysia will organize a Malaysian Culinary and Culture Delight Promotion Week from August 21-28 to promote Malaysian culture.
Due to influences from immigroups like Chinese and Indian, and other neighbor countries, the culture in Malaysia is a fine combination of elements from its own and other cultures, which can be seen clearly from its culinary, beverages and music.
Malaysian food often uses fresh ingredients, lots of seasoning and herbs to enhance the taste and flavours. Desserts in Malaysia are quite sweet and often contain coconut milk, sometimes; tropical fruits can also be served as deserts.
Among many beverages, Teh Tarik is a popular Malaysian tea made by combining 2 main ingredients: tea and condensed milk. The tea is brewed using a unique technique, pouring the tea back and forth from high to a container held below. In Malaysia, there are often competitions and performances between demonstrators to show this special skill.
Also from Malaysian multi-culture, music and dances vary widely and are considered as mesmerizing and complex art forms. The dances can be divided into court dance, folk dance or others but there is a common use of the drums in the background. Some of the popular traditional dances are Joget, Inang, Silat, Shadow Plays and Datun Julud.
During the Week, all the food and drinks mentioned above are introduced in the buffet dinner at Melia Hanoi Hotel. A large amount of distinctive offers from Malaysia like Roti Canai, Satay with condiments, Famous Rice Noodles, Roti Jala, Nasi Lemak, Mee Rebus, Teh Tarik demonstration, and traditional dances will be presented to bring you the most exciting memories ever.
